Virus library

An analysis of the technologies used by cybercriminals allows us to draw conclusions about the virus industry’s possible vectors of development and more effectively confront future threats. You, too, can learn what actions various malicious programs take in infected systems and how to withstand them.

Program.RemoteBot in virus library:

Program.RemoteBot is the detection name for the applications that are designed to remotely control the Android devices. Programs of this family can perform the following tasks:

  • Intercepting and sending SMS,
  • Intercepting and making the phone calls,
  • Gaining access to notifications from the operating system and other apps,
  • Taking photos and videos,
  • Using device’s microphone to record surroundings and eavesdrop the users,
  • Determining the device’s location, and
  • Executing various commands.

Program.RemoteBot apps are not malicious on their own but may be used for cyber espionage, surveillance and tracking user’s actions on Android devices if installed without the owner’s permission.

Vulnerabilities for Android

According to statistics, every fifth program for Android contains a vulnerability (or, in other words, a "loophole") that lets cybercriminals successfully introduce Trojans onto mobile devices and manipulate them into doing whatever actions they need them to.

Dr.Web Security Auditor for Android diagnoses and analyses a mobile device’s security and offers solutions to address security problems and vulnerabilities.
