An analysis of the technologies used by cybercriminals allows us to draw conclusions about the virus industry’s possible vectors of development and more effectively confront future threats. You, too, can learn what actions various malicious programs take in infected systems and how to withstand them.
Android.Crusewind is a family of backdoors targeting Android mobile devices. These Trojans are distributed through SMS spam messages that supposedly contain new MMS and GPRS settings. In order to apply these settings, the user must open the link from the message. If the user opens the link, a malicious program will be downloaded to their device.
The Trojans belonging to the Android.Crusewind family can send out text messages in accordance with settings from an XML file downloaded from a remote server. Moreover, these Trojans can also download updates and send data on applications installed on the device to the server.
According to statistics, every fifth program for Android contains a vulnerability (or, in other words, a "loophole") that lets cybercriminals successfully introduce Trojans onto mobile devices and manipulate them into doing whatever actions they need them to.
Dr.Web Security Auditor for Android diagnoses and analyses a mobile device’s security and offers solutions to address security problems and vulnerabilities.
