Virus library

An analysis of the technologies used by cybercriminals allows us to draw conclusions about the virus industry’s possible vectors of development and more effectively confront future threats. You, too, can learn what actions various malicious programs take in infected systems and how to withstand them.

Adware.Hero in virus library:

Adware.Hero is a family of adware software targeting the Android operating system. Members of this family have a modular architecture and are capable of the following:

  • displaying ads via push notifications;
  • displaying ads as banners, which are rendered on the screen;
  • silently installing and uninstalling other apps (if the necessary system permissions are available).

Moreover, they have unimplemented functionality, such as periodic task execution via a Runnable interface, as well as forced enabling and disabling of mobile data connectivity.

The functionality of Adware.Hero is spread among several standalone components as APK files and also an SDK module that can be integrated into third party applications.

Vulnerabilities for Android

According to statistics, every fifth program for Android contains a vulnerability (or, in other words, a "loophole") that lets cybercriminals successfully introduce Trojans onto mobile devices and manipulate them into doing whatever actions they need them to.

Dr.Web Security Auditor for Android diagnoses and analyses a mobile device’s security and offers solutions to address security problems and vulnerabilities.
